- With over 250 new student enrolments, the site has surpassed expectations. We're currently designing its second iteration.
Berwick TEC is one of four Victorian TECs funded by the State Government and situated in the grounds of existing TAFE Institutes. The TECs have been established as a response to a need for secondary students to have access to education and vocational paths from age 15, as an alternative to traditional academic further education.
The aim of the site is to raise awareness of the TEC, its location, market offering and facilities. It was built to support the target of 200 enrolments for the 2009 curriculum year.
3D visualisation
The Berwick TEC building is currently under construction. When we were briefed about the project, we were told that the architects who designed the building, Vincent Crisp Architects, could give us anything we needed. This gave us an idea…
With access to 3D models, we believed we could show prospective students through the building and what it was going to look like, before it was even built.
Utilising cutting edge Flash 3D technology, users could tour the virtual facility at their own pace. After research and consultation with a sample group of students, the idea was given the green light.
Dynamic 3D environments
Two areas of the new Berwick TEC website feature ‘free look’ walk-through interaction, modelled on popular gaming engine concepts. These real-time 3D zones are populated with video profiles the user can interact with and gather information about studying at the TEC.
Tour guide David shows you around the rest of the site, which features comic book styling blended with pre-rendered 3D animation and live video.
The site has been getting fantastic feedback from current and prospective students, parents and staff at the TEC, and we’re proud to be associated with the dynamic, forward thinking team at Chisholm.
