Millipede were approached by Acceleration Group with an adventurous idea for a screensaver promoting Boag’s St George beer.
Featuring your desktop
We teamed up with friends and programming gurus NextStudio for this one. The screensaver snaps a screenshot of your desktop in its current state, Flash loads in this screen shot, applies frosty water droplets, then larger drops run down your screen unmasking the Boag’s St George label underneath.
Originally the drops had refraction and reflection and looked fantastic – unfortunately you required a ridiculously fast computer to be able to enjoy these thirsty effects, so we had to trim it back. Still, the idea is great, the concept a success, and therefore it can be done again. Bigger, better, FASTER!
