Within the My design series, the learner is given the task of devising a virtual presentation for their classmates.

Making choices

Students combine graphic and audio elements to create a presentation and evaluate how changes they make to the elements affect the impact of the presentation. They have a range of elements from which to select, and the ability to modify these elements through various buttons as follows:

  • choose your subject – the learner is able to select from a palette of up to three different options that depict the subject differently.
  • size – the learner can choose one of three different sizes for their subject.
  • placement – the learner can move their subject around the screen via arrow buttons.
  • colour – the learner chooses the colour of their subject via a colour palette.
  • SFX – the learner can choose from three different sound effects for their subject.
  • voice – the learner can choose a voice from three possible subject voices.
  • background – the learner can select one of three backgrounds.
  • name – the learner will be able to type in the name of their subject.
  • note – a key message/statement. The learner can choose the colour of their message and type into the free text area.

Fun & engaging subject matter

Students can view an animation of their presentation, before editing their scene further or progessing to reflect upon and print their final presentation.

Subjects for the learning objects include a talking cat, a talking car, and a talking dinosaur. This learning object was developed for Early Years students, year level: P – 1.

This learning object was developed based on the Learning Object Design document developed with DK2.
