Outcomes and recognition
Nominated for an AIMIA award in 2007 Best Childrens category

Acceleration Group assembled a consortium to tackle this project including Millipede and instructional designers DK2. We all developed the concept, Acceleration handled design, DK2 wrote the content and we completed the build.

The following is an excerpt from the Teachers’ Manual accompanying CyberNetrix, which describes the project much better than we can, and is a fine example of DK2’s skill…

CyberNetrix is an interactive multi-media educational resource designed to help teachers empower students on safe use of the Internet. It is the third phase of the NetAlert CyberSafe Schools program – developed in recognition of the seriousness of the risks facing children accessing Internet services and content today.

Australian teachers and students have been involved in the design of this cross-curricula, cross year level resource which has been specifically designed for secondary students from years 7-12 and aims to increase awareness of Internet safety issues across the secondary school community.

CyberNetrix helps to equip students with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to make informed decisions to minimise the risks of Internet and mobile technology access and at the same time enjoy a valuable and rewarding experience. CyberNetrix is an engaging, easy-to-use kit that is supported by a website and downloadable classroom activities and resources.

The resources in this kit have been flexibly designed so that the key messages of student empowerment, responsible and careful decision-making and taking positive actions can be applied in any area of the secondary school’s curriculum. NetAlert encourages you to use and adapt these resources to meet the particular needs of your students and to enjoy the tangible benefits in the further development of their digital literacy.
